Common Questions

How do I enroll my child at St. Mark’s Lutheran School?
  • Contact Principal Michael Kumwenda at (402) 423 - 1497 or email mkumwenda@stmarkwels.org.
  • Complete an Enrollment Application – One can be sent to you, or you can download and print it here: Enrollment Application (PDF).
  • Receive approval from St. Mark’s Board of Education after the application is reviewed.

How much is tuition?
St. Mark’s Lutheran School follows a formula to determine the tuition on an annual basis. The tuition rate is for those families who are members at another WELS congregation as well as those who belong to another congregation or no congregation at all. The formula is as follows:

  • In April of each year, the school budget is set, giving the basis for all costs.
  • The budget total is divided by 40 students. 40 is the maximum number of students St. Mark’s Lutheran School could enroll at one time. The budget number divided by 40 gives us the per student cost. Historically the enrollment is in the 25-30 student range.
  • The cost per student is divided up between St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the families. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church assumes 25% of the cost of educating, while each family pays 75% of the cost.

  • All families pay an additional book and gym fee in addition to tuition.
  • Members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church do not pay tuition, but do pay the book and gym fee.
  • There is no discount for multiple children in the school.
  • Kindergarten students pay full tuition.
  • Families will be informed each May of the new tuition for the next school year.
